A demo of the Visual Novel Game Generator, a Unity tool developed as part of a BSc Honours dissertation exploring whether generative AI can produce fully playable visual novel games from a single text prompt.
This demo includes a selection of pre-generated stories to explore and experience. Since the JSON driving each story is entirely AI-generated, some stories may occasionally feel rough around the edges or encounter a missing key, a known limitation of fully automated generation at the time of research.
Note: This demo does not support live prompt generation. The full generation pipeline requires a locally running ComfyUI server for image generation, which cannot be hosted on Itch.io. The stories included have been pre-generated and packaged for this demo.

| Ravenwood Horrors | A detective story happening in a manor partially rewritten by a human |
| The Fisherman's Curse | A story of a fisherman and his family who have to run away from their little village, the fisherman has accidentally killed a mermaid and brought a curse upon him and his family. He goes to a clairvoyant and is told that him and his family have to flee and stay away from the sea, she mentions a way to rid of the curse, kill his first born girl, he obviously refuses and they run away. The fisherman doesn't tell his family but invents an excuse to run away, the family is reluctant but follows him. They go up to the mountain where he works at the mine. There's a lake near the new town they live in that will eventually be the cause of his son's death. The story can continue any way, as long as by the end the fisherman manages to lift the curse. If the demo includes everything till them fleeing the town that should be enough. |
| Shadows on Willow Bay | On a sunny spring morning, Oscar rides his bicycle and rides out of town to a nice quaint fishing village where he stopped at a small sea-side café'. While serving the cyclist, the server was surprised to notice that this person was reading her unpublished novel. Very few trusted people should have access to that book and this man was not one of them. She wouldn’t dare confront a customer in front of her annoying shift manager, so she waited until he was ready and went on break just as he left. Luckily for her, he went on foot leaving the bicycle chained to a fence. He walked slowly towards the narrow village roads. She knew every inch of her little town, so she kept wondering who or what this mysterious person was looking for. Her brain ached with all the possibilities and for a moment, she lost sight of him. Darkness fell on her as soon as the turned the corner... |
